Khaberni - Today, Wednesday, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mazen Al-Qadi discussed with the Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs Dr. Mohammad Moqdadi, mechanisms to support entities working in family and society issues and protecting authentic Jordanian social values.
During the meeting, Al-Qadi confirmed the readiness of the Council to cooperate with the National Council for Family Affairs on various files it works on, whether related to issues of the elderly, protection from domestic violence, or childhood issues.
He emphasized that the doors of the Council are open to receiving any proposals related to national legislation or initiatives aimed at correcting societal concepts, in addition to supporting efforts to improve the quality of services provided to citizens in areas related to the family.
For his part, Moqdadi clarified that the Council is a national institution concerned with proposing policies and legislation, and preparing specialized studies and research in the fields of the elderly, protection from domestic violence, and childhood.
He indicated that the Council, in partnership with various national entities, succeeded in producing several national policies, including the third national strategy for the elderly and its implementation plan, which was recently approved by the Council of Ministers, focusing on improving the level of services provided to the elderly, especially recreational services, day care, and healthcare.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General for "Family Affairs" Mohammad Al-Zoubi, he mentioned that the Council, in cooperation with the national team for family protection from violence, formed a pioneering national experience that resulted in a number of advanced policies, most notably the law on protection from domestic violence which is based on a reformative approach aimed at preserving and strengthening the family instead of focusing on the punitive approach.
He also mentioned that the Council is currently working on preparing the national policy for childcare, which fully aligns with the vision of economic modernization, by focusing on issues of women's work and providing an environment friendly for families and children, thereby setting the suitable conditions for empowering women and enhancing the role of the family in social development.
