Netanyahu and His Defense Minister Katz Conducted a Tour in Syria Today

Khaberni - The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported on Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Israel Katz conducted a tour today in Syria.

The broadcasting agency stated that Netanyahu and Katz conducted a tour in Syria today, Wednesday, and listened to a briefing on the situation in the region.

The agency pointed out that this visit comes amid American efforts to sign a security agreement between Israel and Syria.

This week, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation and other Hebrew media outlets reported that talks about signing a security agreement between Israel and Syria have reached an impasse, according to Israeli sources.

The sources highlighted that Israel rejected the demand of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar, to withdraw from all the positions controlled by the Israeli army in Syria following the fall of the regime of former president Bashar al-Assad.

The sources indicated that Israel would only withdraw from some of these positions in exchange for a comprehensive peace agreement with Syria, not just a security agreement, which is currently not in sight.

It is noted that Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, and the Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir also participated in the tour in Syrian territory, in addition to the head of the Shin Bet.

Netanyahu had earlier requested that his trial be postponed today for security reasons.
