Khaberni - The "New York Times" revealed details of outlining the future of Gaza in a repurposed warehouse within an industrial area in the occupied southern Palestine, handled by hundreds of American and Israeli soldiers, alongside Arab security officers and Western diplomats.
It mentioned that the activity in this center resembles a "chaotic startup," with no official representation for the Palestinians.
Diplomatic Warnings: "Any vision without Palestinian participation is doomed to fail."
It added that daily meetings are held, led by senior American officers discussing highly sensitive subjects such as "water resources".
It pointed out that scenes of American soldiers discussing the reconstruction of Gaza "bring to mind memories of reconstruction projects that previously failed" in both countries.
It noted that the day-to-day work in the center is managed by a team led by former Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone,
and involves officers and diplomats from dozens of countries, from Canada and Germany to the UAE and Singapore, some of whom arrived asking "What is Hamas?"
It continued that the center is focused on devising concepts for "alternative safe communities" that would earmark residential settlements to house Palestinians within the areas controlled by "Israel", although informed diplomats doubted the Palestinians would accept this idea, as it paves the way for a permanent division of Gaza.
And it concluded that despite the busy activity inside the warehouse, the most pressing question remains strongly posed: To what extent can the future of Gaza be shaped without the presence of the Palestinians?
