Khaberni - Hossam Hassan, the technical director of the Egyptian national team, issued angry messages after the match with Cape Verde on Monday evening in the third-place encounter of the "Al Ain" friendly international tournament held in the UAE.
Egypt's national team defeated Cape Verde 2-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Hossam Hassan stated during the press conference: "My salary is less than the salaries of the coaches of Ceramica Cleopatra, the National Bank, and some Egyptian league clubs, and there was a Brazilian coach named Rogério Micale who led the Egyptian Olympic team and was paid much more than me, yet I didn’t speak up."
He added, "It was shameful that the youth national team coach received more than the first team coach because I was on a national mission to make the Egyptian people happy, and I was fighting for you and for the fans who I had made happy as a player with several clubs such as Al Ahly, Zamalek, and El Masry, and played for the national team until I was 40 years old."
He affirmed that he is well aware of the value of the Egyptian national team, noting that he is ready for criticism and to receive anything from the media.
He continued, "I reached the World Cup and the African Nations Cup with the Egyptian national team, and if social media wants to hire a foreign coach to get dollars, then let them do that, but we reached the World Cup with a national coaching staff being paid in Egyptian pounds."
He emphasized that he rejects belittling the technical staff and the talk of some in the Egyptian media that the coach has no idea about football.
He continued, "It is shameful to speak in this manner about the coach of the Egyptian national team. For instance, the Moroccan national team is led by a national coach who is appreciated by everyone and oversees a host of global stars such as Brahim Diaz at Real Madrid and others."
