The nutritionist, Reham Fakhr El-Din, explained that hummus contains complex sugars that the human body finds difficult to digest easily.

When consuming hummus, these sugars reach the colon or large intestine without being fully digested, which leads to their fermentation, gas formation, and bloating.


It is recommended to follow four simple steps to avoid the symptoms:

Soak the hummus for between 8 and 12 hours

Boil the hummus well

Add cumin during cooking

Peel the hummus if possible
