Khaberni - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the El-Dabaa nuclear power station in Egypt, which is being constructed by the "Rosatom" corporation, may soon start operations and electricity generation.
Peskov said, "The project is going well, and there are all reasons to believe that the station will begin operations and electricity generation in the near future."
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi participated through video technology today in the ceremony of installing the reactor vessel in the first unit at the El-Dabaa nuclear power station in Egypt.
The El-Dabaa nuclear station represents a historic leap forward in Egypt's energy sector, being the country's first nuclear power station and one of the largest national projects in the energy sector.
The station is located in the El-Dabaa area of Matrouh Governorate on the northern coast of Egypt and consists of four power units, with the station having a total capacity of 4800 megawatts.
Russia relies on the advanced third-generation reactor technology (Gen III+) for constructing the Egyptian station, which is globally the latest and most efficient in terms of safety and operation.
