Khaberni - President Donald Trump announced the designation of Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally, in a step aimed at enhancing and developing military relations between the two countries.

Trump approved a defense package with Saudi Arabia, which includes the sale of F-35 fighter jets and about 300 American tanks to Riyadh, according to the White House, yesterday, Tuesday.

During the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House, the Trump administration announced that Riyadh would increase its investment commitments from $600 billion to nearly $1 trillion.
The White House stated that Trump and Mohammed bin Salman "signed the American-Saudi strategic defense agreement, a historic agreement that enhances our defense partnership that has lasted for more than 80 years, and strengthens deterrence across the Middle East".

The White House added that "Trump approved the sale of a major defense package, including future deliveries of F-35 aircraft as part of an agreement for Saudi Arabia to purchase about 300 American tanks".

So far, Israel is the only country in the Middle East that operates these American stealth aircraft.
