Khaberni - The Damanhur Criminal Appeals Court, Third Circuit, ruled today, Tuesday, to amend the sentence against the accused "S.K," the financial monitor at a private school in Beheira Governorate, Egypt, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment with labor, in the child indecency case of Yasin.

The reduced sentence comes after the Damanhur Criminal Court, First Circuit, had previously issued a life imprisonment sentence.

The case dates back to January when the child's mother noticed health problems with her son during defecation, and a medical examination revealed signs of sexual assault.

The appeal sessions were heavily secured around the court of Itay el-Baroud, with a strong presence of security forces to ensure the sessions proceeded in a safe atmosphere, amidst widespread media interest and intense follow-up on social media.

During the sessions, child Yasin appeared dressed as Spider-Man, symbolizing strength and resilience in facing the offender, while the accused was present under tight security.

A number of lawyers volunteered to claim civil rights, led by lawyers Diaa Al-Awadi and Haitham Abdel Aziz, while the court listened to senior forensic doctors to discuss the forensic report of the child Yasin, based on the defense's request to include the accused's medical treatment documents and documents from the High State Security Prosecution.

The court confirmed in the rationale of its ruling the validity of the charge, considering that the denial of the accused is not reliable, and that the verbal and technical evidence presented to the court was sufficient to conclusively prove the incident.

The Yasin child case is among the most prominent cases that have occupied public opinion in Egypt recently, due to its tragic events and extensive media interest.
