Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II visited industrial facilities in Qastal south of the capital today, Tuesday, and viewed their contributions in covering the needs of the Jordanian market and their role in exporting local products.
His Majesty began his visit at the factories of the International Company for Medicine belonging to the Accentia Group for Pharmaceutical Industries, where His Majesty listened to an explanation from the CEO of the company, Dr. Abdul Mun'im Al-Ali, who indicated that the company contributes about 17 percent of the local production of medicines and about 11 percent of Jordan's pharmaceutical exports.
According to Al-Ali, the company operates in 19 countries in the region, and employs more than 700 people in the kingdom, with Jordanians making up 96 percent of the workforce, and women 25 percent, pointing out the company’s role in training and qualifying Jordanian competencies.
Ziad Al-Tounsi, Chairman of the Board of Accentia Group, pointed out that the group resulted from a strategic partnership between the Al Faisal Group of Saudi Arabia and the International Company for Medicine, with the aim of enhancing pharmaceutical security and developing the pharmaceutical industries in the region.
His Majesty's tour included the factories of Hajj Mahmoud Habibeh & Sons Company, where His Majesty viewed the production lines, and listened to an explanation from the Executive Director of the company, Monzer Habibeh, about the company's expansion plans that has been operating for 75 years.
The company employs more than 500 employees, 90 percent of whom are Jordanians, and supplies the local market with various types of sweets, while its exports reach more than 20 countries, as Habibeh indicated.
His Majesty toured the departments of the factory, which currently provides its products through four branches in the kingdom and three other branches in Saudi Arabia, and is considered one of the largest confectionery factories in the Middle East.
His Majesty concluded his visit at Walid Al-Jitan Group of Companies (Paradise Bakeries Factory), and listened to an explanation from the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the CEO of the group, Mohammad Al-Jitan, about the operations of the factory and its future plans to expand production.
The factory provides its products in five branches, and produces a number of food products on behalf of the World Food Programme.
Al-Jitan pointed out that the group operates in several sectors and provides 450 job opportunities, and its exports reach more than 20 countries.
Accompanying His Majesty during the visit was the Director of His Majesty's Office, Engineer Alaa Al-Batayneh.
