Khaberni - The Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, represented by the Vice Chancellor Professor Tareq Al-Qarm and Dean Professor Alaa Al-Hasban, participated in an international program supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), offering a multidisciplinary educational course in the field of regenerative biomedicine, in addition to a joint research cooperation on the use of natural compounds in biotissue engineering.
The program is based on a scientific partnership that brings together academic expertise from Jordan, Germany, and Tunisia, through collaboration between the University of Giessen, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, the University of Jordan, and the University of Sfax in Tunisia. The program covers a wide range of topics including biomaterials, scaffold engineering, combining compounds and natural products, molecular farming, design thinking, and regulatory aspects, aiming to enhance regional and international capacities in the fields of regenerative biomedical innovation, with a focus on sustainability and practical applications.
During the six-month duration of the program, diverse interactive lectures were provided to 45 graduate students from the participating universities, who received a diploma issued by the University of Giessen at the conclusion. An elite group of students and faculty members were also trained at the Institute of Experimental Trauma Surgery at the University of Giessen.
Professor Tareq Al-Qarm and Professor Alaa Al-Hasban participated in the program's concluding conference at the University of Giessen, where the latest scientific research in the field of regenerative medicine and the use of supportive biomaterials for bone healing and injuries were presented. The delegation also viewed the latest research equipment in medical, pharmaceutical, and microbiological research institutes, in addition to visiting the university's affiliated research teaching hospital.
