Khaberni - Jeff Bezos will hold the position of co-CEO of a new emerging AI company that will focus on the engineering and manufacturing of computers, cars, and spacecraft.
The company is named "Project Prometheus", and has raised $6.2 billion in funding - part of it from the founder of Amazon - making it one of the most funded startups in its early stages, according to a report by The New York Times citing three people familiar with the startup's situation.
This is the first time Bezos has held a formal operational role in a company since stepping down as CEO of Amazon in July 2021, according to Reuters.
Despite Bezos's involvement in Blue Origin, his official title in the space company is solely the founder.
With the new startup, Bezos enters the crowded AI market, where many small companies are trying to make breakthroughs with new software and products, competing with major players in the field such as "Open AI", "Meta", and "Google".
The co-CEO with Bezos in the new company will be Vik Bajaj, a physicist and chemist who worked closely with Google cofounder Sergey Brin at "Google X", a research project.
"Project Prometheus" has already employed about 100 staff, including researchers from major AI companies such as "Open AI", "DeepMind", and "Meta".
