Khaberni - New court documents reveal shocking details in the murder case of a woman from Florida by her 13-year-old son, where it was discovered that he sent pictures of his mother's body after stabbing her 46 times while she was sleeping, to a friend out of state.
The memorandum submitted by the prosecution in recent days explained that the boy, Derek Rosa, took a photo of the corpse and a selfie with it, his hand blood-stained, about 10 minutes after committing the crime, and sent it to his friend asking for his opinion on what he saw. Initially, the latter thought the photos were just a joke, but later realized their truth after the crime was uncovered.
The prosecution also noted that the date of the crime, October 12, 2023, was significant as the boy was fond of the character Jason Voorhees, the hockey-masked killer from the famous horror film series "Friday the 13th," which is always associated with a Friday the 13th, symbolizing bad luck and violence.
The prosecution added that the boy had written in messages to his friends before the crime that he intended to dress up as Jason during Halloween, indicating that the choice of the date was likely influenced by the symbolism of this famous cinematic character, meaning it was not random but connected to the horror films he was influenced by.
According to "People" magazine, Derek Rosa himself was the first to inform the police of the crime by calling emergency services, where during the call he confessed to killing his mother Irina Garcia (39 years old) and detailed what he had done. When the police arrived, the boy was arrested and bloodstained footprints matching his were recorded from the bedroom to the front door of the apartment.
The memo also revealed attempts by the defense to direct the accusation towards the mother's husband as an alternative suspect, but the prosecution confirmed that the husband was in another state at the time of the crime, considering these claims unsupported by concrete evidence.
The trial of Derek Rosa is expected to begin in January 2026, where the court will consider all the details and new developments in the case, including sending pictures after the crime and possible psychological motives.
