Zamir threatens to occupy new areas inside Gaza

Khaberni - Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir hinted at the possibility of occupying additional areas within the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that Israeli forces "must be prepared for a rapid transition to a broad attack."

Zamir, in remarks during a field tour conducted today, Sunday, in Rafah with southern brigade commanders, said that the Israeli forces continue to operate along the yellow line, adding "We have operational control over more than 50% of the Gaza Strip without controlling the civilian population."

The Chief of Staff explained that what he described as the changing reality requires the army to maintain full readiness for a rapid operation "to establish operational control over areas within the sector if necessary", pointing out that the army is working on "eliminating threats and maintaining constant readiness to transition from defense to attack."

He emphasized that his forces strive to prevent Hamas from rebuilding its strength by controlling strategic terrains and the entrances to Gaza, clarifying that the yellow line forms a security line that the forces are working to establish.

Zamir mentioned that the southern command "will continue to work to dismantle Hamas's military infrastructure and eliminate the militants", stressing that the army will insist "on not allowing Hamas rule to return to the other side of the border, whether through agreement or military means," according to him.

The genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has resulted in more than 69,000 martyrs and over 170,000 injured, most of them women and children, and destruction of more than 90% of the sector’s buildings.

Israel continues to bomb Gaza and demolish what remains of its dwellings, despite the ceasefire agreement reached on October 10, causing hundreds of Palestinian martyrs and injured, as well as restricting the entry of food and medical supplies.
