Khaberni - Based on the instructions of the Minister of Interior and the implementation of the public safety system on the ground, the Governor of Jerash, Dr. Malek Khrisat, announced the launch of an extensive campaign to remove the non-compliant stalls and kiosks scattered on public streets, especially on the Jerash - Irbid line, emphasizing that the public street is a right of the citizens and pedestrians, and must not be infringed, and that the security and traffic safety of citizens are a priority that cannot be neglected.
Khrisat explained that the random spread of kiosks and stalls causes confusion in traffic movement and creates dangerous points on the road, in addition to spoiling the urban view. He emphasized that this campaign aims to address these violations and restore discipline to the public street.
The governor noted that the first phase of the campaign included educating the violators and warning them about the danger of encroaching on the road's sanctity, and written warnings and pledges were issued within specific timeframes to remove the encroachments, from a standpoint of transparency and enhancing community partnership, granting them enough time to correct their status before moving to the removal stage.
Khrisat stated that the second phase – which the competent authorities have started to implement – includes the immediate removal of violations from public streets and the international line, and taking legal actions against those who did not adhere to the specified deadline.
To carry out the campaign in an organized and swift manner, the administrative government formed a special committee headed by the governor's assistant for public safety affairs, and membership from a representative of the Jerash Police Directorate, the Greater Jerash Municipality, the Public Works Directorate, the Gendarmerie Forces, and the Joint Services Council, so that the committee takes charge of immediate implementation and field removal of encroachments.
The governor affirmed that the campaign continues in cooperation with all security and service parties, aiming to improve traffic safety levels and prepare a safe environment for citizens and vehicles, with a focus on organizing markets without affecting people's livelihoods, but within the framework of the law.
Khrisat concluded by saying:
"The security of the citizens is our goal, and traffic safety on public streets is our priority."
