Khaberni - The House of Representatives will hold a legislative session on Monday to discuss several draft laws submitted by the government, most notably the draft law amending the Military Service and Reserve Service Law for the year 2025, granting it urgent status.
His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, announced last August the forthcoming reactivation of the military service program during his meeting with young men and women from the province of Irbid.
Prime Minister Jaffar Hassan confirmed that the draft law on military service and reserve service will be one of the government's legislative priorities in the coming period, in preparation to start the implementation of the military service program announced by His Highness the Crown Prince at the beginning of February next year.
The approval of the draft law completes the legislative procedures related to reactivating the military service program, which will start to be implemented at the beginning of February next year, following the announcement by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, of the decision to return to military service.
The draft law organizes provisions related to certain new legal requirements for activating and implementing the military service program, acceptable cases for its postponement, and enabling the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army to offer training programs at armed forces centers and institutes for those enlisted, allowing educational institutions to incorporate them as part of the study requirements for university students, in accordance with instructions issued by the Cabinet for this purpose, as well as counting them as part of the requirements and duties of military service.
The draft law also includes the abolition of provisions granting enlistees who complete military service any priority in appointments in ministries, departments, government institutions, companies, and private institutions.
