Obesity Diabetes and Cancer New Restrictions by the Trump Administration to Limit Immigration

Khaberni - In the latest efforts by the Trump administration to restrain immigration flow, the Washington Post stated that the U.S. administration has directed consular officials to consider obesity and other chronic health conditions like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as reasons to deny entry visas to foreigners into the United States.

The newspaper reports that Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed U.S. consulates and embassies around the world of these changes in a telegram dated November 6, according to a copy obtained by the newspaper and verified.

This step expands the scope of the current medical examination to include infectious diseases and provides visa officials with a new rationale for rejecting applicants.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that "for over 100 years, the State Department policy has included the authority to refuse applications from those who would pose a financial burden on taxpayers, such as individuals seeking to obtain publicly funded healthcare in the United States, which could deplete healthcare resources from American citizens."
