Khaberni - Abdullah Guner, the health director in Istanbul province, stated that a worker died in a soil collapse at an under-construction metro station in Istanbul city.
According to him, the soil collapse occurred on Saturday in central Istanbul at the under-construction Kabatas Metro station.
Previously, the city municipality reported that emergency services rescued two workers, while three others managed to escape on their own.
Guner wrote on the social media platform X: "One of the workers who were taken to the hospital after the collapse has died."
The health director noted that two of the workers are still under medical observation in the hospital.
The station is located on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait and is designed to be the final stop on the M7 line. The station is scheduled to open in 2027, but construction has been delayed several times due to various archaeological discoveries along the track route.
