Khaberni - The Israeli army is preparing for the possibility of returning to war in the Gaza Strip, brandishing a plan to disarm the "Hamas" movement, should the plan being advanced by the US administration in the Security Council fail.
Israeli officials and sources for the Hebrew news channel "Kan" said that the army is planning to resume fighting and disarm "Hamas" itself in light of the potential failure of the American plan.
"Kan" reported that the US administration is finding difficulties in pushing its plan to the next stage.
An Israeli official told "Kan": "The question is not whether (Hamas) will be disarmed, but who will do it."
The preparations in the army came in light of the difficulties facing the American plan.
On Monday, the Security Council votes on a US resolution supporting President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
The United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey expressed their "joint support" on Friday in a statement for the American draft resolution which mandates forming an international stabilization force, among other things, expressing hope for its rapid adoption, and urged the Security Council to hasten the adoption of the draft resolution.
Last week the Americans officially launched negotiations within the 15-member International Security Council around a text that follows up on the ceasefire in the ongoing two-year war between Israel and "Hamas", and supporting Trump's plan.
Washington and its partners in the statement said: "We confirm that this is a sincere effort, and the plan provides a practical path towards peace and stability, not only for Israelis and Palestinians but for the entire region as well."
