The King meets the Pakistani Prime Minister in Islamabad and affirms the importance of expanding cooperation

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, during his meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday, affirmed the importance of expanding cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, in a way that serves their mutual interests and the issues of the Islamic nation.

His Majesty the King and the Pakistani Prime Minister during a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one in Islamabad, stressed the commitment to build on the longstanding Jordanian-Pakistani relations, which span nearly 78 years, and to enhance joint action in trade, economics, investment, tourism, education, technology, and defense.

His Majesty emphasized the necessity of maintaining coordination and cooperation at the bilateral level, and with brotherly and friendly states, to amplify the efforts made to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

His Majesty the King expressed his condolences to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the victims of the two terrorist attacks that occurred in Pakistan last week, reiterating Jordan's stance alongside Pakistan in combating terrorism.

The meeting addressed the situation in Gaza, where His Majesty stressed the importance of all parties committing to the agreement to end the war in all its stages, and the flow of humanitarian aid in adequate amounts.

His Majesty the King, in the presence of His Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to His Majesty for Religious and Cultural Affairs, and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, stressed the importance of Pakistan's role within the framework of the UN Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and its support for the agreement to end the war in Gaza.

His Majesty emphasized the need to stop unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, especially the plans aimed at expanding settlements and annexing territories, warning against attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

During the meeting, it was confirmed that Jordan and Pakistan reject any plans for the displacement of Palestinians, and they both firmly support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.

On his part, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his country's keenness to continue expanding cooperation with Jordan in various fields, affirming the importance of His Majesty the King's visit in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

His Majesty and the Prime Minister of Pakistan witnessed the governmental exchange ceremonies between the two countries of a cooperation agreement between the Jordan Broadcasting and Television Corporation and the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, and a cooperation agreement between the Jordan Broadcasting and Television Corporation and the Pakistan Television Corporation, and a memorandum of understanding between the University of Jordan and the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training of Pakistan to establish a chair for the Urdu language and Pakistani studies at the university, along with a program for cultural cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, the Director of His Majesty the King's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, and the Jordanian Ambassador to Pakistan Maen Al Khraisat.
