The King meets the Pakistani Prime Minister in Islamabad

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed, during his meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today, Saturday, the importance of expanding cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, serving their mutual interests and the issues of the Islamic nation.

His Majesty the King and the Pakistani Prime Minister confirmed during a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one in Islamabad, their keenness to build on the Jordanian-Pakistani relations that have extended for about 78 years, and to enhance joint work in trade, economy, investment, tourism, education, technology, and defense.

His Majesty emphasized the necessity of maintaining coordination and cooperation at the bilateral level, and with brotherly and friendly countries, to intensify efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

His Majesty the King expressed his condolences to the Pakistani Prime Minister for the victims of the two terrorist attacks that occurred in Pakistan last week, reaffirming Jordan's stand with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting addressed the situation in Gaza, where His Majesty emphasized the importance of all parties committing to an agreement to end the war in all its phases, and the flow of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities.

His Majesty the King, during the meeting attended by His Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King's Chief Advisor for Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Personal Envoy, emphasized the importance of Pakistan's role within the framework of the United Nations Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and its support for the agreement to end the war in Gaza.

His Majesty emphasized the necessity of stopping unilateral actions against the Palestinians in the West Bank, particularly the plans aimed at expanding settlements and annexing lands, warning against attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

During the meeting, Jordan and Pakistan's rejection of any plans for the displacement of Palestinians was reaffirmed, as well as their steadfast support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.

On his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his country's keenness to continue expanding cooperation with Jordan in various fields, affirming the importance of His Majesty the King's visit in consolidating the relations between the two countries.

His Majesty and the Pakistani Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of government agreements between their countries including a cooperation agreement between the Jordanian Broadcasting and Television Corporation and the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, a cooperation agreement between the Jordanian Broadcasting and Television Corporation and Pakistan Television Corporation, and a memorandum of understanding between the University of Jordan and the Pakistani Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training to establish a chair for the Urdu language and Pakistani studies at the university, in addition to a cultural cooperation program.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, Chief of the Joint Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, Director of His Majesty’s Office Engineer Alaa Al Batayneh, and the Jordanian Ambassador to Pakistan Maan Al-Kharisat.
