Khaberni - The head of the Independent Election Commission, Musa Al-Maaytah, confirmed that the Commission is working in cooperation with the related authorities to allocate specific sites for election campaigning, committing to the use of licensed advertising methods.
Al-Maaytah said that political parties are a fundamental partner of the Commission in continuing the journey of political reform, noting that the Commission has implemented many programs aimed at enhancing the efficiency of parties, including capacity building programs targeted at women and youth.
This was stated during the dialogue seminar organized by the National Covenant Party titled "Our Future Opportunities," in cooperation with the Governorate Foundation for Volunteer Work, attended by the acting General Secretary of the party, Obaid Yasin, and the party’s leadership.
Al-Maaytah emphasized the importance of giving youth greater space within the parties, and the adoption of good governance standards that political parties should comply with.
He added that the role of parties is to persuade citizens of their programs and earn their trust and votes to reach the parliament and subsequently contribute to forming governments.
Al-Maaytah explained that one of the pillars of party work is the transition from individual to collective work, and enhancing the harmony between parliamentary blocs and the parties they represent.
He referred to the affirmation by His Majesty the King in the throne speech, during the opening of the ordinary session of the National Assembly, on the importance of continuing the path of political modernization and developing parties, and that their programs should be based on the national reality.
He confirmed that the mission of the Independent Election Commission is to apply the law, which forms the basis of its success in managing electoral operations, as democracy cannot be achieved without the rule of law.
He also indicated that the Commission has launched a results platform that allows citizens to keep up with the latest developments in counting processes and know the number of votes for candidates and parties.
