United Nations Israel Built a Wall on the Lebanon Border Exceeding the Blue Line

Khaberni - A spokesperson for the United Nations stated that a survey conducted by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) last month concluded that a wall built by the Israeli military exceeds the Blue Line.

The Blue Line is a line drawn by the United Nations that demarcates Lebanon from Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that the concrete wall erected by the Israeli military has prevented local residents from accessing more than four thousand square meters (approximately one acre) of Lebanese land.

He added, quoting peacekeeping forces, that part of another wall that also exceeds the Blue Line is being constructed southeast of Yaroun.

Dujarric said that UNIFIL has informed the Israeli military of the findings and requested the removal of the wall.

UNIFIL stated in a separate release, "Israel's presence in Lebanese territory and its construction activities there constitute a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and infringe upon Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

An Israeli military spokesperson denied that the wall crosses the Blue Line.

The spokesperson said, "The wall is part of a broader plan of the Israel Defense Forces and its construction began in 2022. Since the outbreak of the war, and as part of the lessons learned from it, the Israel Defense Forces are accelerating a series of measures, including reinforcing the physical barrier along the northern border."
