Khaberni - Apple is intensifying its efforts to plan for Tim Cook's successor, in preparation for his resignation as CEO next year, according to the Financial Times on Friday.
Several sources familiar with the matter told the newspaper that John Ternus, the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple, is widely regarded as the most likely successor to Cook.
Sources familiar with discussions within Apple mentioned that the company’s board of directors and senior executives have recently intensified their preparations for Cook to hand over the leadership of the company after more than 14 years as CEO of Apple, according to Reuters quoting the newspaper report.
It is unlikely that Apple will appoint a new CEO before its next earnings report in late January, which covers the important holiday sales period for the company.
Cook took over as CEO in 2011 after the resignation of Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, ending his era of leadership at the giant technology company founded in a garage.
