The Security Council votes Monday on the American draft resolution concerning the peace plan in Gaza

Khaberni - The UN Security Council votes on Monday on an American draft resolution supporting President Donald Trump's peace plan in Gaza, as reported by diplomatic sources last Friday.

The United States and several of its partners, including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, urged the Security Council last Friday to "hurry" in adopting the draft resolution.

The United States, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey expressed in a statement their "joint support" for the American draft resolution, which mandates the formation of an international stabilization force, among other things, expressing hope for its "swift" adoption.

Last week, Americans officially launched negotiations within the 15-member UN Security Council on a text that follows up on the ceasefire in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas for two years, supporting Trump’s plan.

Washington and its partners stated in the announcement, "We affirm that this is a sincere effort and that the plan provides a practical pathway toward peace and stability, not only between Israelis and Palestinians but for the entire region."

The draft resolution welcomes the establishment of a "Peace Council," a transitional governing body for Gaza that would theoretically be chaired by Trump, with its mandate continuing until the end of 2027.

The resolution empowers the member states to form an "interim international stabilization force" working with Israel, Egypt, and the newly trained Palestinian police to help secure border areas and disarm the Gaza Strip.

Unlike previous drafts, this resolution indicates the possibility of a future Palestinian state.
