The Pakistani Ambassador Pakistan and Jordans Relations are Solid

Khaberni - The Pakistani ambassador in Amman, Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal, confirmed that the relations between Pakistan and Jordan are rooted in the bonds of shared faith, close history, and deep cultural ties.

Iqbal pointed out that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Jordan are characterized by mutual respect, convergence in attitudes towards major regional issues, and a spirit of solidarity based on the shared Islamic heritage.

He added that the diplomatic relations between the two countries, formally established in 1948, have developed over the years into a multi-dimensional partnership with future visions, including political dialogue, enhancing defense cooperation, developing economic and trade relations, in addition to cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts, as well as continuing joint coordination in international forums.

He affirmed that relations between the two countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the leadership of Pakistan, have reached an advanced level of strategic maturity, noting that this distinctive brotherly partnership paves the way for launching practical frameworks for regional cooperation and enhancing pathways for social and economic development.

He pointed out that the recent years have seen prominent milestones in the path of bilateral relations in various fields, represented by an increased frequency of high-level visits and exchanges, reflecting the growing level of trust between the leaderships of the two countries.

Iqbal explained that Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif met His Majesty King Abdullah II on the sidelines of the Gaza Peace Summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on October 13, 2025, and the two sides had another meeting in New York during the Arab-Islamic Summit in September of the same year, in addition to their meeting at the emergency Doha Summit dated September 16, 2025.

He added that ministerial visits between the countries have become a regular feature reflecting the dynamics of bilateral relations and contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two sides in various fields.

The ambassador clarified that economic and trade relations between the two countries are experiencing increasing growth, noting that the volume of trade between Pakistan and Jordan reached $51.29 million in 2024, an increase of 10.54 percent compared to the previous year.

He explained that bilateral institutional meetings in agriculture and trade have been activated this year, with the second meeting of the Agricultural Steering Committee held via video call in August 2025, and it was decided to hold the meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee in February 2026 in Islamabad.

He added that trade delegations from both sides exchanged visits, with a delegation from the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry visiting Amman in 2024, and a representative from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce participated in the Digital Investment Forum in Islamabad, as well as Jordanian delegations participating in various economic and industrial exhibitions in Lahore and Islamabad.

He pointed out that educational, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries have seen significant growth, with a memorandum of understanding signed between the Jordan University of Science and Technology and the National University of Sciences and Technology in Islamabad in September 2025, and the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Thought Forum in October of the same year.

The Pakistani Embassy in Amman organized the first Pakistani Film Festival in January 2025, along with various artistic and cultural exhibitions, contributing to enhancing understanding and cultural closeness between the peoples.

The ambassador confirmed the close coordination and consultation between the two countries regarding regional developments, especially concerning the Palestinian issue, explaining that Pakistan and Jordan adopt similar positions calling for peace, stability, and moderation, and share the same stance on the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the humanitarian crisis there.

He pointed out that the two countries support each other in the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other international forums, where Jordan supported Pakistan's candidacy for membership in the Security Council for the period 2025–2026 and the Human Rights Council 2026–2028, while Pakistan supported Jordan's nominations in various Islamic and international institutions, including the nomination of ambassador Mahmoud Daifallah Hamoud as a judge in the International Court of Justice for the period 2025–2027.

Regarding economic cooperation, the ambassador explained that there are substantial untapped potentials, noting the efforts of both countries to expand the trade basket, enhance connections between chambers of commerce, and facilitate cooperation between businessmen.

He noted that Pakistani investments in Jordan are estimated at about $155 million, focusing on industrial and textile sectors, contributing to supporting Jordan's economic growth.

He confirmed that his country is looking forward to a preferential trade agreement with Jordan as a step towards a future free trade agreement, to boost trade exchange in sectors of textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture from the Pakistani side, and fertilizers and industrial and chemical products from the Jordanian side.

The ambassador explained that the anticipated visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Pakistan represents an important milestone that will give a new strategic boost to bilateral relations, particularly in economic fields, noting that previous visits by His Majesty were followed by significant increases in trade volume between the two countries.

In the field of tourism and culture, the ambassador explained that cooperation between the two countries represents an aspect of the soft power of bilateral relations, due to the rich civilizational and religious heritage of both countries, noting that efforts were made to establish a chair for the Urdu language and Pakistani studies at the Jordanian University to introduce Jordanian students to the culture and history of Pakistan.

He added that the Pakistani Embassy in Amman organized several cultural and artistic events, including the first Pakistani Cinema Festival, an exhibition by the artist Najah Radawi titled "Epiphanies" in May 2024, and cultural exhibitions during Pakistan Day celebrations and at diplomatic bazaars, which contributed to enhancing cultural ties between the two countries.

The ambassador praised Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in achieving peace and stability in the region, affirming that Jordan is a pillar of stability amidst regional disturbances, and appreciating Jordan's constructive diplomacy which is based on dialogue, moderation, and peaceful conflict resolution, especially its humanitarian role in coordinating aid for Gaza.

He also appreciated Jordan's positions in calling for harmony among religions and combating extremism, confirming Pakistan's support for Jordan's efforts to achieve peace and development in the region.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the ambassador reaffirmed his country's firm position supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, according to the resolutions of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The ambassador strongly condemned the renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza and the resulting severe human losses, calling on the international community for urgent intervention to stop the violations and protect civilians, noting the ongoing coordination between Pakistan and Jordan in this regard, and appreciating the positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his efforts to stop the fighting and provide aid and protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The ambassador praised the significant humanitarian role played by the Kingdom in hosting Syrian refugees and facilitating the delivery of aid to Gaza despite security challenges, affirming that these efforts reflect Jordan's deep commitment to international humanitarian law, Islamic solidarity values, and human dignity, noting that the Pakistani Embassy in Amman coordinated, with the assistance of relevant Jordanian authorities, the dispatch of about 10 humanitarian aid shipments from Pakistan to Gaza through Jordanian territory.
