Khaberni - A law professor at the University of Kentucky has filed a lawsuit against the university, claiming it violated his rights to free speech and due process this summer when it fired him and barred him from entering the campus, and initiated an investigation into his criticisms of Israel at academic conferences and online forums.
Ramsey Woodcock stated in the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky that the investigation was baseless and driven by political pressure from state legislators to take strong action against anti-Semitism in universities. The complaint alleges that the investigation has led to a crackdown on freedom of expression at the University of Kentucky, and Woodcock has asked the court to declare that the Kentucky state law, recently adopted to combat anti-Semitism on campus, violates the American Constitution.
The lawsuit states, "Faculty members are afraid to protest Professor Woodcock's suspension, and students are afraid to speak about Palestine, with some considering leaving the university because of this."
