Khaberni - With the arrival of autumn, pressures on the eyes increase, and it becomes easier to detect hidden visual problems that were unnoticeable throughout the rest of the year.
Dr. Sino Guziyev, an eye medicine and surgery specialist, points out that shorter daylight hours, frequent fog, rain, and poor natural lighting cause the eyes to exert more effort, highlighting early signs of serious diseases like glaucoma and cataracts.
Glaucoma is considered one of the major problems that can worsen in this season, as it causes eye pressure to rise and gradually damages the optic nerve, leading to a narrowing of the visual field without clear symptoms initially. Guziyev adds that those affected begin to notice rapid eye fatigue, mild headaches, or a feeling of pressure behind the eye, which are indicators that call for attention and early examination by a doctor to avoid complications.
As for cataracts, they cause the lens to cloud and blur vision, particularly when driving at night or facing bright lights, where halos or glare may appear around light sources.
The doctor confirms that foggy conditions and weak lighting in autumn increase the difficulty of focusing on details, making the eyes exert more effort and increasing the person’s sense of visual fatigue.
To maintain eye health during this season, Guziyev advises undergoing regular eye exams, especially for those over forty or with chronic diseases, alongside protecting the eyes from wind and cold using protective glasses, and maintaining proper lighting while reading and working.
He also emphasizes the importance of consuming a diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals such as A, C, E, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids to enhance eye health and prevent vision problems associated with autumn.
Guziyev confirms that adhering to these preventive measures ensures greater comfort for the eyes throughout the season and helps alleviate early symptoms of chronic diseases, providing effective protection for human vision and making the visual experience in autumn smoother and safer.
