Khaberni - Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Akram Harahsheh, confirmed Jordan's solidarity with the Sudanese people who are subjected to condemnable attacks in the city of El Fasher, Sudan, pointing out that these attacks "violate laws, fuel hatred, and rob the security of the secure."
During his participation in the 38th special session of the Human Rights Council on the situation in El Fasher, Harahsheh expressed Jordan's steadfast solidarity with the Sudanese people facing brutal attacks in El Fasher, emphasizing Jordan's condemnation of "these atrocities that breach international law, stoke hatred, and plunge civilians into endless fear and instability."
He added, "We must all direct our efforts to stop the tragedy that is occurring on its land and against its people," calling for steps that aim to address the crisis at its roots, through reaching a political solution that saves lives, stops the violence that the Sudanese people are paying the price for, and ensures a bright and secure future that the brethren aspire for their children and grandchildren.
Harahsheh reaffirmed Jordan's support for all regional and international efforts and the Quartet aimed at this, stressing the need to de-escalate and protect civilians and humanitarian workers and facilitate the work of organizations with a mandate.
In conclusion of his speech, Ambassador Harahsheh said Sudan deserves to enjoy security and peace, which would end the suffering of its kind people, respect its sovereignty, and unite its territory, affirming that this should be the compass by which we advance.
