Khaberni - The President of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez said that the Islamic Action Front in Jordan has not been banned, despite being the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was banned, and they share the same orientation.
Al-Fayez added, during his talk on the program "High Tension" hosted by media personality Tony Khalifeh on Al-Mashhad channel, if they (the party) obey the law and their loyalty to the Hashemite throne and their belonging to the soil of Jordan, there would be no legal action against them, but they must be under the law.
He explained that the group was banned in 2020 initially, but decisive measures were not taken at that time. However, this year there was a terrorist cell working to destabilize security and stability uncovered by the Jordanian security forces, most of them were members of the Muslim Brotherhood, and some were members of the Shura Council from the Brotherhood and they were prosecuted, including the financial file and donations that were provided to Gaza. According to the information, these donations were used to support the movement, not to support the resilience of our people in Gaza, and yet the accused is innocent until proven guilty and now they are before the judiciary, which is the decisive factor, and we will wait and see.
Al-Fayez ruled out that there would be any person or country inciting this group against Jordan, but they were overwhelmed by emotion during the days of the Gaza siege and the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the killings, and destruction, but Jordan will not be a battleground if there is Arab-Islamic support we cannot enter a war against Israel and will not fight on behalf of anyone, as we protect the Jordanian entity to remain strong so Palestine can be strong.
Regarding his staying in power, Al-Fayez affirmed that he is always serving His Majesty the King and close to him, performing his duty in the best way, he always looks only to serve the country and the king, and this is the secret of his long stay in power, thanking His Majesty the King for his trust.
About Gaza and the security agreement, Al-Fayez stressed that Jordan was never outside the scene and has a major role in helping and supporting the brethren, but this role is indirect. Looking at the mediators, there is a strong relationship linking Qatar to Hamas, and strong relations linking our brothers in Hamas with the Turkish President Erdogan, as well as with the Egyptian leadership, and given the proximity of Gaza to Egypt and the borders, and we all know that the Gaza Strip was governed after 1948 by the Egyptian leadership or by Egypt until 1967, so those who signed the agreement are the mediators and we "Jordan" were not mediators but we were part of this process, and those who signed are the mediators between Israel and Hamas.
Regarding Jordan's relationship with Hamas and Jordan's role in the security plan in Gaza, Al-Fayez confirmed that we were not part of the mediation and the official Jordanian stance recognizes the Palestinian National Authority, and this does not mean that there is no relationship between us, but there is no political coordination so we deal with Hamas sometimes, regarding "the security plan in Gaza" His Majesty the King clearly stated that there would be no role for the Jordanian forces, and we will train Palestinian police elements in cooperation with our Egyptian brothers to handle the security in Gaza, emphasizing that Jordan will not militarily intervene in any project proposed there.
About the end of the war in Gaza and the future of Hamas, Al-Fayez said that Hamas has now signed the American initiative and it is said that they will not give up the weapons but when they accepted the American initiative they actually accepted that there would be a disarmament and this was confirmed by the Turkish President, believing that the procedures or steps for the disarmament is not known now as the second clause of the American initiative has not yet been implemented and there were meetings, there was a meeting of the Arab and Muslim foreign ministers in Turkey in addition to efforts to implement the second clause, which is forming the international force that will be responsible for security in Gaza and the other clauses represented by the Israeli withdrawal and the withdrawal schedule and all the procedures that come under the second clause of the American initiative.
He added: The American president is determined to make this initiative successful. In his meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders, they said frankly that this initiative must succeed... and amid American pressure, Netanyahu will not be able to escape, there is tremendous American pressure on Netanyahu and his extremist government, expressing his optimism especially now that Netanyahu is facing tough challenges internally as his trial is underway and I do not know what the outcome of this trial will be, but there is now division in the Israeli society and there are those who want to end the conflict.
Regarding the role of Jordan and the Palestinian issue, Al-Fayez emphasized that the kingdom has an effective role in the matter of the Palestinian cause and His Majesty the King's efforts did not begin after October 7, but since 1999 when he assumed his constitutional powers, he has always demanded a two-state solution, and we have felt his efforts alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France with regard to the conference that was recently held in New York resulting in the United Nations General Assembly, which includes more than 150 countries, recognizing the Palestinian state and there is now a European decision from the European Union for a two-state solution and recognition by Britain of the Palestinian state.
He noted that since the promise immediately, no statement has been issued by the British government, but we in Jordan have an effective role as we are closest to Palestine and His Majesty the King's main concern is the Palestinian issue, and if there is no solution to the Palestinian issue, this will lead to a threat to Jordan's national security, so His Majesty the King is very interested and what happens in the West Bank was talked about by the King and was clear with President Trump as he strongly opposed any proposal or approach to the issue of annexing the West Bank and what he told Trump that all your efforts regarding the issue of peace in the Middle East will not be achieved, so there was a change in American policy, and when Arab and Islamic countries met with Trump, the King clarified this to him and Trump reassured His Majesty the King that there would be no annexation of the West Bank.
Regarding the Lebanese file and Hezbollah, Al-Fayez indicated that there should be direct negotiations with Israel and this is what the Lebanese president said, and if it is based on peace it must be comprehensive peace within the equation, if Israel wants to establish peace with Saudi Arabia, which refuses so far that with the condition of the existence of a Palestinian state and otherwise there will be no normalization with Israel, and the same applies to Syria and Lebanon, explaining that there can be no solution to the Palestinian issue except under American pressure and Europe has a role but it does not have tools to pressure the one who can solve the Palestinian issue.
