Video Massive wildfires hit an Algerian state and threaten residents

Khaberni - The efforts of the Algerian civil protection units, supported by the army's "P 200" aircraft, continue in intense attempts to extinguish the fires that have broken out in the forests of Tipaza state.

The civil protection, in a statement, has deployed the necessary human and material resources to extinguish the fires, with the participation of provincial units in addition to support units coming from neighboring provinces (Ain Defla, Blida, Chlef, Medea, and the capital).

It was also reported that Thursday witnessed 22 fires in 8 provinces, 11 of which are still active, while 5 fires were completely extinguished, and 6 have been extinguished but are still under surveillance.

The efforts to extinguish the fires erupting in the forests of Tipaza state, which is located 90 kilometers west of the capital Algiers, face challenges, necessitating land and air interventions, coinciding with the authorities' decision to evacuate residents from nearby areas as a precautionary measure.

The governor of the state, Mohamed Amin Ben Chaoulia, supervised the firefighting operations in the presence of the head of the provincial people's council, local, security, and military authorities, according to a statement from the state.

Additionally, the Algerian Interior Minister Said Saioud, late on Thursday evening, alongside the acting commander of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Sid Ali Bourmana, and the general director of the civil apparatus, Colonel Boualam Bouglaf, accompanied by civilian and military authorities of Tipaza state, oversaw the firefighting efforts.

The wildfires had erupted on Thursday afternoon in the state of Tipaza, coinciding with the onset of strong dry winds that helped expand their scope.
