Khaberni - The UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Palestinian territories said that reports of settlers setting fire to a mosque in the West Bank are alarming.
He added that the incident raises significant concerns with the increasing violence of the settlers.
He affirmed that the Israeli authorities need to investigate, hold the perpetrators accountable, and protect everyone.
Early this Thursday morning, extremist settlers set fire to the "Hajja Hamida" mosque in the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, and inscribed on its external walls racist slogans and slogans hostile to Islam and the Palestinians.
Anti-settlement activist Nazmi Salman said that a group of settlers smashed one of the mosque's windows, poured a flammable substance inside, leading to a fire that damaged parts of the mosque and several carpets.
