Khaberni - The Spanish police said today, Thursday, that they dismantled an international gang accused of smuggling minors from the Canary Islands to France. 11 people were arrested in an operation that targeted areas in Lanzarote, Madrid, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The police said in a statement: "Four of the suspects have been put in provisional detention on charges related to organized crime, forgery of documents, and exploitation of children in pornography."
The investigation began after the disappearance of 14 minors from state-run centers in the Canary Islands between late 2024 and mid-2025.
The police said that the group used methods and connections in Morocco, Ivory Coast, and Spain to transport the children, providing them with forged documents to move them to France.
The police searched two homes in Lanzarote, where they confiscated personal documents, electronic devices, and cash.
The police stated that the investigation is still open to determine the whereabouts of missing minors and trace international connections.
