Khaberni - Minister of Health Ibrahim Al-Badour sponsored, on Thursday at the Jordanian Health Forum in the Ministry of Health, the closing ceremony of the psychosocial support project implemented by the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health, under the theme "Ten Years of Care and Partnership".
The Minister of Health emphasized that psychosocial support is a fundamental pillar in enhancing public health and quality of life, noting that a psychologically healthy individual is more productive and better able to contribute positively to their community, and to maintain their human and social relationships.
Al-Badour explained that the Ministry of Health pays great attention to integrating psychosocial support services within the comprehensive healthcare system; to ensure their accessibility to all segments of society without discrimination, noting that the ministry works through national strategies and multiple partnerships with local and international institutions, to enhance community mental health services, expand prevention programs and early intervention, and train health personnel to deliver services that respect human dignity and meet individual needs.
He added that the ministry focuses on incorporating the concepts of psychosocial support into health centers and hospitals, aiming to create a comprehensive therapeutic environment that cares for both body and mind, in alignment with the Kingdom’s vision to achieve sustainable development and comprehensive health for every citizen.
The Minister noted that significant efforts have been made in Jordan to enhance psychosocial support services within the health care system, through a series of national programs and initiatives implemented over the past years.
On his part, Mr. Younes Lux, representative of the German Embassy in Jordan stated: "As we look to the future, our bilateral partnership with Jordan remains a strategy based on shared values and mutual goals. Germany reaffirms its enduring commitment to friendship and cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, acknowledging the vital role the Kingdom plays in the region and on the international stage."
The conclusion of this project does not represent an end, but the beginning of a new phase of cooperation and joint construction, continuing a journey of care and partnership towards a better future for everyone.
This project represents the fruit of ten years of cooperation and joint work to enhance psychosocial support services in Jordan, and to build the capacity of health personnel to provide more comprehensive and sustainable care.
Throughout the project's journey, more than 2900 individuals benefited from improved mental and social health services, more than 800 personnel were trained on specialized subjects in psychosocial support, three universities organized ten community courses on psychosocial support, and the Ministry of Health launched a Self-Care and Staff Care Policy (SCSC), established a Staff Care Center, and trained 14 primary trainers who conducted more than 230 activities in various health facilities.
The event brought together partners from the Ministry of Health, international and local organizations, universities, and representatives of local communities in Zarqa, Mafraq, and Amman, to celebrate the shared achievements and explore future cooperation prospects.
