Khaberni - Apple intends to postpone the next generation of "iPhone Air" according to a Reuters report, due to weak sales of the current generation of the phone.
Apple's original plan was to launch the second generation of the phone in the fall of 2026, coinciding with the release of "iPhone 18 Pro" and "Foldable iPhone," and to delay the standard model of "iPhone 18" to the following year.
The report confirms that phone sales were significantly lower than expected, which led the company to reduce production in the current generation and focus more on "iPhone 17 Pro Max," which witnessed wide demand.
The "iPhone Air" was initially launched to replace the "Plus" model, which the company had been offering for several years, as the latter also suffered from weak sales compared to the rest of the phones.
The current "iPhone Air" is the first generation of Apple's ultra-thin phones, which were heavily rumored in previous years. While the phone offers a unique design experience, Apple needed to make some sacrifices to achieve it.
These sacrifices caused widespread dissatisfaction among users, as the phone comes with only one rear camera lens, in addition to one speaker and one microphone, and a battery life shorter than the rest of the "iPhone 17" models.
A separate report from "The Verge" indicates that the next generation of "iPhone Air" was to bring a new set of features and improvements, starting from a larger battery and a vapor chamber cooling system to an additional camera lens.
Following this change, Apple will release only three phones next year - the "Foldable iPhone," "iPhone 18 Pro," and "iPhone 18 Pro Max," if it adheres to the plan revealed by previous reports.
