Khaberni - A new poll conducted by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research has shown a noticeable decline in American support for President Donald Trump's management of the country since the beginning of his second term.
According to the poll, which was conducted after Democrats won the recent local elections and before Congress moved to end the longest government shutdown in United States history, only 33% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the government, which represents a decline from 43% in a similar poll conducted in March.
This decline is primarily due to decreased satisfaction levels among Republicans and independents, with 68% of Republicans saying they approve of Trump’s management of the government, compared to 81% in March, while approval among independents dropped from 38% to 25%.
The poll indicates that the government shutdown contributed to increasing discontent, especially after it caused disruptions in air traffic and deprived hundreds of thousands of federal employees of their salaries.
The poll showed that 95% of Democrats still oppose Trump's style of government management, a slight increase from 89% in March.
Even with declining support for his administration, Trump's overall approval rating remains steady in the new poll, with about one-third of adult Americans, namely 36%, approving of his general management of the presidency, a rate close to the 37% in a poll conducted by the Associated Press and NORC in October.
There has also been no significant change in his approval rating for handling major issues, such as immigration and the economy, since last month.
