New Legal Action by Amr Diab in the Incident Where He Slapped a Young Man

Khaberni - In a new development in the incident where artist Amr Diab slapped young Saad Osama at one of his concerts at a hotel in Cairo, "El Hadaba's" defense team filed an official appeal against the verdict issued against him in the case, which fined him 200 Egyptian pounds, reopening the case anew.

The New Cairo Misdemeanor Appeal Court had previously issued its verdict affirming the fine of 200 Egyptian pounds against Amr Diab after convicting him of slapping the aforementioned young man, a verdict that led the defense team to challenge it to reconsider the case.

The Public Prosecution had referred both parties to the misdemeanor court, after charging Amr Diab with the offense of assault and another charge against the young man Saad Osama for assaulting the artist during the concert.

The lawyer Ashraf Abdel Aziz, defense for "El Hadaba", clarified that he had filed an appeal against the verdict, requesting the acquittal of his client from the charge attributed to him, pointing out that Diab did not intend to attack but was responding to clear provocation from the young man.

During the investigation sessions, the slapped young man testified, confirming that he tried to take a souvenir photo with the artist, but the latter slapped him on the face in front of the audience.

Conversely, Amr Diab denied the accusation, explaining that the young man deliberately verbally harassed and provoked him during the concert, which led to the escalation of the situation and the incident that resulted in the case being referred to court.

It is expected that the competent court will consider the appeal submitted by "El Hadaba's" defense in the upcoming period, to determine whether the previous verdict will be upheld or annulled, amid media and public interest in the case that has sparked controversy on social media.
