Khaberni - Earthquake monitoring stations recorded this evening, Wednesday, corresponding to 2025/11/12, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 degrees on the Richter scale that occurred on the island of Cyprus at 17:23:33 local time, according to the head of the Jordanian Seismic Observatory, engineer Ghassan Sweidan.
According to Sweidan, the earthquake occurred at coordinates (34.729N, 32.481E) and at a depth of 20 kilometers beneath the surface of the earth, and was felt by residents in northern Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a number of coastal areas in neighboring countries.
Several aftershocks followed the main quake, ranging in strength from 4.0 to 2.9 on the Richter scale, with no significant damage reported within Jordanian territory at the time this report was prepared, according to Sweidan
The relevant authorities confirmed that the earthquake is part of the known seismic activity in the Mediterranean Basin, noting that technical teams are monitoring developments and analyzing data to track any subsequent activity.
