Khaberni - The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the French President Emmanuel Macron, on Tuesday, announced the formation of a "joint committee" to draft the constitution of the Palestinian state.
Macron, in a press conference following his meeting with Abbas at the Élysée Palace, emphasized the priority of conducting elections in the Palestinian territories, while Abbas renewed his commitment to reforms including organizing elections.
Regarding Israel's annexation of Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank, Macron emphasized that Israeli annexation projects, whether "partial or total" or "de facto" through settlements in the occupied West Bank, represent a "red line".
Macron said that France and its European partners will respond "forcefully" to these projects if they are implemented.
He added that "the violence of the settlers and the acceleration of settlement projects reach new record levels that threaten the stability of the West Bank and constitute violations of international law."
