Khaberni - The royal work tour in Asia saw an important station in Japan, where His Majesty King Abdullah II held 10 high-level meetings with senior Japanese officials and decision-makers.

These meetings were part of efforts to expand cooperation horizons and enhance the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, based on historical relations that have spanned more than 70 years, during which Japan has been a reliable partner for Jordan in supporting its developmental journey and developing cooperation in various fields.

His Majesty met with Emperor Naruhito of Japan, Japanese Prime Minister Sanai Takaichi, and Japanese Defense Minister Shigeru Koizumi, where they discussed the historical friendship relations between the two countries and prospects for enhancing cooperation in defense, development, and economic fields.

His Majesty's meetings also included the Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), along with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), besides representatives of major Japanese companies, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focusing on exploring investment opportunities and increasing economic and commercial cooperation.

His Majesty also met with the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Fukushiro Nukaga, the President of the House of Councillors Masakazu Sekiguchi, the Chairman of the Japan-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Committee Kazunori Tanaka, and the Chairman of the Jordanian-Japanese Friendship Association, in meetings that affirmed the solidity of the parliamentary relations and their role in supporting political and economic cooperation.

During his visit to Japan, a package of cooperation agreements was signed, whereby Japan provides a concessional loan to Jordan worth 100 million dollars to support economic growth and human development programs, in addition to a cooperation memorandum providing a grant of 5 million dollars to enhance national capacities in the cybersecurity field, reflecting the depth of partnership between the two countries and Tokyo's commitment to supporting Jordan's developmental journey.

The meetings with the Japanese officials highlighted the importance of enhancing the participation of Japanese companies in promising Jordanian sectors, alongside encouraging bilateral meetings between representatives of the private sector in both countries, contributing to opening new horizons for cooperation and increasing investment and trade exchange opportunities.

The economic cooperation and investment between Jordan and Japan have seen notable development in recent years, supported by indicators reflecting the strength and sustainability of the partnership between the two countries.

According to official figures, the trade volume between the two countries in 2024 amounted to about 394 million dollars, while the total Japanese support to Jordan since 1999 reached 2.2 billion dollars, confirming the depth of the developmental relations and Tokyo's continuous support for vital projects in the Kingdom.

As part of the development plan spanning from 2024 to 2027, Japan allocated 400 million dollars to support developmental programs and projects in Jordan, enhancing its economic capabilities and improving basic services in various sectors.

Jordan's participation in the Osaka Expo 2025 was a distinguished milestone, as the Jordanian pavilion won two gold awards and saw significant attendance exceeding 1.25 million visitors, which enhanced Jordan's presence on the international level and contributed to promoting its investment and tourist environment.
