Khaberni - Eyad Nassar Returns to Jordanian Screens in Highly Anticipated Feature “Scent of the Dead” - Eyad Nassar, one of the Arab world’s most celebrated actors, is making his first Jordanian feature film, starring in “Scent of the Dead”. Produced by Hadeel Lawi and directed by Mohamad Khabour, the film has just finalized its script, written by Romanian writer and actress Ilinca Hărnuț, marking a major milestone in a project that has been two years in the making and set to be shot in Jordan.
The makers crafted the film with emotional depth and sensitivity, exploring memory, loss, and what remains after someone is gone. Director Khabour revealed that Nassar was the inspiration for the main character from the start: “Eyad has a rare ability to convey silence and human emotion. His return to Jordanian cinema is a return to his roots.” While the story is moving, Scent of the Dead is family-friendly, making it accessible for all ages. Adding to the excitement, producer Hadeel Lawi teased a secret about the co-stars that will delight fans when announced.
Lawi emphasized that Scent of the Dead is primarily aimed at Jordanian audiences, reflecting their reality, and represents a true opportunity for Jordanian art cinema to be both close to the people and commercially successful at the same time.
The film is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Jordanian projects of the coming year, combining international collaboration with a story that is deeply human and uniquely Jordanian.
