In a tragic incident coinciding with the general polling day in the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, the Faw-Zakho group, led by the current MP
Amer Abdel Jabbar Ismail, announced the death of its candidate in Basra province, Uday Al-Ajman, due to sudden health complications.
The group stated in an official statement viewed by "Al Ain News": "The Faw-Zakho group mourns its deceased, Mr. Uday Al-Ajman, the group's candidate in Basra province, who passed away after a career full of dedication and loyalty in serving the nation and the community."
The statement added that the leadership of the group has decided to postpone all victory celebrations throughout the provinces as a period of mourning for the deceased, praying that God may envelop him in His mercy and grant him paradise, and that He gives patience and solace to his family and loved ones.
Al-Ajman was one of the prominent youthful faces in the electoral scene of Basra province, and was one of the notable candidates within the Faw-Zakho coalition contesting the current parliamentary elections under the banner of reform and development, and is considered one of the rising liberal political currents in the country.
Al-Ajman previously held the position of Director of the Sunni Waqf in Basra province before deciding to enter the parliamentary competition in this session, backed by a broad youthful support base in his city.
His death came on the general polling day, which witnessed the participation of millions of Iraqis choosing their representatives in the House of Representatives for the sixth session, in a political event considered one of the most prominent democratic milestones the country has witnessed since 2003.
