Jordanian Institution Cancels Contract with Adulterated Oil Press in Irbid

Khaberni - Khaberni website learned that a Jordanian institution has canceled its contract with an olive oil press, which was raided by the competent authorities and found to have tens of fake tanks in Bani Kinana sub-district, north of Jordan.
The adulterated oil scandal revealed that a former minister Khaberni approved the license of the press which mixed frying oil with old olive oil Khaberni and sold it to Jordanians as pure virgin olive oil right from the mill.
The source said: The same press was engaged with a large institution offering buying and selling services to its members, aiming to supply a huge quantity of olive oil allegedly from the current season's produce, but the institution canceled its contract with the press after the scandal erupted.
There is widespread discontent on the Jordanian street due to the high prices of oil this season after monopolists collected thousands of tons of olives from small farmers for pressing and selling at high prices, reaching up to 160 Jordanian Dinars, according to the Farmers Union.
