Khaberni - Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar, on Tuesday, confirmed that employing Jordanians in companies operating at the Attarat site in the south of the kingdom is a fundamental priority for the ministry.
During a meeting in his office with the CEO of Attarat Power Company, Jason Bock, in the presence of the Ministry's Secretary-General Abdul Halim Dougan, Al-Bakkar emphasized the necessity for all subcontractors to commit to employing Jordanians, explaining that approvals for employing non-Jordanian workers would be limited to cases requiring specialized skills that are not locally available.
The Minister of Labor agreed with the company officials to guarantee the employment of Jordanians with any new subcontractor who undertakes bids at the project site, affirming the importance of continuously monitoring this commitment.
The minister also directed the Central Inspection Directorate and Labor Relations Directorate to intensify supervision of companies operating on site and ensure their compliance with employing Jordanians, especially in cases of replacing any subcontractor.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials from Attarat Power Company, along with the director of the Central Inspection Directorate at the ministry, Haitham Al-Najdawi, and the director of the Labor Relations Directorate, Adnan Al-Dahamsha.
