Sentencing Tawfiq Okasha to OneMonth Imprisonment in Alimony Case

Khaberni - The Family Court in Nasr City punished the Egyptian media figure Tawfiq Okasha with a one-month imprisonment for his failure to pay a financial sum of 225,000 Egyptian pounds in frozen alimony for his child.

Tawfiq Okasha's imprisonment occurred in the lawsuit number 2687 of the year 2025, Family of Nasr City, filed by his ex-wife Reda El Sayed, who demanded him to pay a sum of 225,000 Egyptian pounds as alimony for the minor.

The court found the plaintiff to be affluent and capable of payment, and ordered him to pay; however, he refused, hence, the court sentenced him to imprisonment for 30 days for failing to make the payment.

The plaintiff had presented evidence to the court of the plaintiff's wealth, owning horse farms, luxury cars, and the Media Compound, after the defendant had filed a lawsuit to reduce the alimony claiming his poverty and inability to pay. However, the court found him capable and affluent and hence rejected his claim for reduction and issued a ruling to imprison him.

Last year, a lawyer acting on behalf of the media figure Tawfiq Okasha paid 45,000 Egyptian pounds to suspend the execution of a 30-day imprisonment sentence issued against him by the Family Court in case of non-payment of 45,000 Egyptian pounds in frozen expenses for the benefit of his ex-wife.
