Khaberni - Verbal altercations among several members of the House of Representatives led the chairman of the council, Mazen Al-Qadi, to adjourn the session for consultation purposes, until further notice.
A disagreement erupted among the deputies during the first session to choose members of the permanent committees, after the deputy Ahmed Al-Qatawneh decided to run for membership in the Legal Committee.
Al-Qatawneh nominated himself after agreeing on the selection of 11 deputies for the membership of the committee, so as to complete it without holding elections. However, introducing another candidate (Al-Qatawneh) meant proceeding to elections, which prompted the president of the council to shift to selecting members of the Financial Committee and postpone the legal one until the rest of the committees are settled.
The council decided to transfer the draft law of the general budget for the fiscal year 2026 to its financial committee.
The House of Representatives referred the general budget bill for the fiscal year 2026 to its financial committee, which will commence discussing it with ministries, units, and governmental institutions and then come out with recommendations and submit them to the council so that the deputies can thereafter discuss the project under the dome of the parliament.
