Khaberni - MP Saleh Al-Armouti criticized what was stated in the speech of the 2026 public budget bill presented by the government of Dr. Jaafar Hassan.
Al-Armouti said during the budget speech hearing that the budget did not provide reassurance to the citizens but rather increased their poverty, hunger, and deprivation.
He questioned whether the budget, which does not include any increase in retirees' salaries, will be presented as a gift to the Jordanians.
He emphasized that the debt on Jordan has reached tens of billions, aside from the government borrowing from the Social Security Corporation at least 11 billion dinars.
He considered that the salary percentage of the total public budget would exceed 60%, contrary to what was stated by the Minister of Finance Abdulhakim Al-Shibli.
He called for stopping the travel of MPs, dignitaries, and ministers, and using the cost for paying retirees' salaries.
He criticized the government for establishing toll roads in Jordan.
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives is listening, during a morning session today, to the public budget speech for the year 2026, delivered by the Minister of Finance Abdulhakim Al-Shibli.
