Khaberni - It is expected that Thibaut Courtois, the goalkeeper for Spanish club Real Madrid, will miss Belgium’s World Cup qualifying matches due to a muscle injury.
Real Madrid stated in a release: "The 33-year-old goalkeeper suffered a muscle injury in his right leg, following examinations by the club, and the Spanish club did not specify the duration of the player's absence, only stating that it is monitoring his condition and recovery."
The Belgian Football Association has not yet commented on the matter, at a time when the national team is also missing the services of Kevin De Bruyne, who is suffering from a thigh muscle injury, and will be out for several months.
The Belgian national team leads Group 10 in the World Cup qualifiers, ahead of North Macedonia and Wales, and will face Kazakhstan in Astana next Saturday before hosting Liechtenstein in Liège, Belgium on November 18. The team will qualify directly for the finals of the tournament to be held next year, if it wins against Kazakhstan.
