The Argentine Lionel Messi, star of Inter Miami, tops the list of players with the most individual awards in football history.

Throughout his ongoing professional career with several clubs and the Argentina national team, Messi has collected 53 individual awards according to the British site "Give Me Sport".

Messi is significantly ahead of his perennial rival, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of the Saudi club Al Nassr, who is in second place with 33 individual awards.

The site noted that the prestigious awards it considered in its list include the Ballon d'Or, the Golden Boot, the European Golden Shoe, the top scorer awards in continental and international championships as well, in addition to the awards given to the best player of the year, whether local, continental, or international.

Here follows the list of players with the most individual awards in the history of football:

1.    Lionel Messi: 53 awards (Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami, Argentina national team).
2.    Cristiano Ronaldo: 33 awards (Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr Saudi, Portugal national team).
3.    Marco van Basten: 20 awards (Ajax Amsterdam, Milan, Netherlands national team).
4.    Ronaldo Nazario: 18 awards (Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Milan, Corinthians, Brazil national team).
5.    Gerd Muller: 18 awards (Nördlingen 1861, Bayern Munich, Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Germany national team).
6.    Eusebio: 17 awards (Sporting Market, Benfica, Boston Minutemen, Monterrey, Toronto Blizzard, Pera Mar, Las Vegas Quicksilvers, Uniao de Tomar, New Jersey Americans, Portugal national team).
7.    Zinedine Zidane: 13 awards (Cannes, Bordeaux, Juventus, Real Madrid, France national team).
8.    Michel Platini: 12 awards (Nancy, Saint-Étienne, Juventus, France national team).
9.    Alfredo Di Stefano: 12 awards (River Plate, Huracan, Millonarios, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Argentina and Spain national teams).
10.    Johan Cruyff: 10 awards (Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona, Los Angeles Aztecs, Washington Diplomats, Levante, Netherlands national team).
