With a bail exceeding 800 thousand dollars Gaddafis son is released from Lebanese prisons

Khaberni - Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, regained his freedom from the Lebanese prison on Monday, after 10 years of detention on charges of "withholding information" in the case of the kidnapping and disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddin.

Hannibal was released on Monday afternoon from the Internal Security Forces prison in Achrafieh, Beirut, away from the media spotlight and without media accompaniment, so as not to provoke any party.

$893,000 bail
The decision to release Hannibal was implemented after his agents paid the financial bail set by the judicial investigator in the kidnapping and disappearance case of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions, Judge Zaher Hammad, amounting to 80 billion Lebanese pounds, but it was paid in US dollars, a total of $893,000, placed as a deposit in the Judges Mutual Fund, as the fund under the Ministry of Finance in the Palace of Justice, refuses to accept any bail in foreign currency.
A judicial source confirmed that “the release does not mean the closure of Hannibal’s file, which is supposed to have him attend the investigation sessions before the judicial investigator or before the Judicial Council”, pointing out that “the financial bail is considered a guarantee for attending the sessions later”.

Regarding the possibility of his immediate departure from Lebanon, the judicial source said: "As long as Judge Zaher Hammad has canceled the travel ban, Hannibal Gaddafi has complete freedom to leave Lebanon to the destination of his choice."
