Khaberni - The launch of the AI video app "Sora" for Android was successful.
On its first day on the "Google Play" app store, the AI video creation app from OpenAI, the developer of the chatbot GPT, estimated to record about 470,000 downloads across all markets where it was available, according to new estimates from the "Appfigures" platform specialized in app data and analytics.
The scale of the Android app's launch was four times larger than that of the "iOS" version that was released first, with an increase in the number of installations by 327%. However, the company notes that this is not an accurate comparison, according to a report by the technology news website "TechCrunch" that was reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
On the "iOS" system, the "Sora" app was only available in the United States and Canada, and was initially available by invitation only.
On Android, however, the application is available in the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, and OpenAI removed the invitation requirement in late October for its main markets.
The iOS application achieved great success after its launch, even though it was initially restricted to invitations only. The iOS app recorded more than one million installations during its first week and quickly topped the "App Store".
The app remains on the list of the top free iPhone apps in the "App Store" in the United States to date.
The "Sora" app allows users to create AI-generated video clips through text inputs and sharing. These clips can also include animated images of the users and their friends, through a feature known as "Cameos".
Appfigures reviewed its previous estimates for the number of "Sora" app downloads for iOS on the first day. Initially, its estimates indicated that the app witnessed about 56,000 downloads on the first day.
Now, after more time has passed, more accurate estimates by "Appfigures" suggest that the figure was closer to 110,000, including about 69,300 installations in the United States.
